According to a recent Huffington Post article, CVS is expanding sales of the lifesaving heroin antidote, known as naloxone or Narcan, to additional states including New York and Ohio. Narcan has been sold at CVS stores in 12 states without a prescription since September.
It is stated that Naloxone reverses the effects of heroin and prescription drugs like OxyContin by blocking opioid receptors in the brain and is commonly used by emergency responders treating heroin overdose.
The heroin antidote drug is available for around $50 each and there is no limit to the number of times it can be purchased.
